Womens Premier League 2023: The Women’s Premier League has started and even before its start some players are getting the most discussions, one of them is named Smriti Mandhana, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore. She is the captain of Bangalore ie RCB. The reason for his discussion is his comparison with Virat Kohli. Virat and Smriti both have jersey number 18 and both these players are now part of the same franchise. Regarding her comparison with Virat, Smriti said that she does not like this comparison at all, because compared to the achievements that Virat has achieved, she is not even near.

Smriti told reporters in Mumbai ahead of her first match in the WPL that, "I don’t like this kind of comparison at all because the achievements he (Virat) has made are amazing. I just hope that I can reach that level too, but I am nowhere. Whatever he has achieved for this franchise (RCB), I will also try to achieve him."

Virat Kohli also introduced Smriti Mandhana in front of RCB fans through a video and said that she will get a lot of support with this franchise and will also get the best fans in the world.  He said in an RCB video that, "Hi! RCB fans, this is your jersey number 18 and we are here to announce something special. Leading RCB for the last decade was the most fun and memorable phase of my career. A captain is not just a leader of his team but he creates a culture and carries forward the legacy of the team by getting respect from all."

What Virat said about Smriti

Kohli further said that, "Now it’s time for another number 18, who will be leading a very special RCB team in the Women’s Premier League. Yes, we are talking about Smriti Mandhana. Wish you all the best Smriti, you will get the support of the best team and fans in this franchise." Smriti has captained earlier also. He captained Maharashtra in domestic cricket. Apart from this, he also played the role of stand-in-captain for the Indian team in the absence of Harmanpreet. 

Smriti said that, "I think with the Women’s Premier League, a great time has now begun for women’s cricket. You can see for yourself that now how people in India are accepting women’s cricket and how eager people are. I have captained domestic teams since the age of 16. I have led the Maharashtra team. Captaincy is not a new thing for me. I want to use all those experiences of mine in WPL."  Let us tell you that the first match of RCB has started from 3.30 pm on March 5, Sunday. In this match, RCB has won the toss and decided to bowl first.
